We never realized soap could bring out such creativity in people. :) We are definitely going to have a difficult challenge in narrowing these down. But don't let that stop you - keep sending in those submissions!

What's in a Name?

Okie doke. As some of you have noticed, we like to give our soaps some rather, ahem, imaginative (we like to think creative) names. So, the question has come up a few times about the origins of some of our soap names. And we do admit, names like Sterno Bum, Gutter Snipe, Stupid Llamas , and Atticus in Argyle may beg that question.

Well, the secret is we like movies. Some of the time it's stupid or silly movies, but mostly it's just plain old good entertainment. If something strikes our fancy or inspires us, you can bet we'll find a way to make a soap name out of it. Case in point, two of our latest soaps are Don't Call Me Shirley and He Hates these Cans! Can you figure out the references?

So where is this going? We would like to give our customers and readers the chance to submit some name suggestions for a new soap for our 2007 line. Send us your best ideas - keep it clean ;) and include where you got the inspiration, ie. the movie name or show title. We'll choose our top five favorites and post them in a poll on our blog on November 1st for readers to vote on. The person who submitted the name that earns the most votes will win 3 bars of the newly named soap as soon as it joins our product line.

So put on those thinking caps and when you're ready click here to use our website contact form to submit your suggestion. Feel free to submit as many as you like! Remember, we need your name, your idea, and where the idea came from. Please include your email so we can get in touch with you in case your suggestion wins. We'll collect your ideas through October 31st, choose our five favorites, and then post the poll for the voting on Nov 1st. We'll announce the winning name Nov 15th. Have fun!

Yes, we do own a calendar. As many of you have pointed out, Labor Day Weekend has passed, and we have still not posted our fall product line. We just can't rush perfection! :)
We have a bit more tweaking to do to make sure everything is ready to go. PLUS, we had to find figs. Ooops! Did we give something away?! Don't worry. It won't be much longer.

What are we enjoying right now?

Sometimes we actually take a break from soap to enjoy other things. Now before you pass out laughing - Yes! It really is true! So what is it that we are enjoying right now you ask? TEA! More specifically tea from SBSTeas.com. We first ran across SBSTeas a couple years ago when we were planning a tea party (yes really) for a family member's birthday. Ya know, one of those special kind of birthdays that ends in a "0". Rachel was fantastic in helping us pick out a variety of teas that would appeal to our guest list whose ages ranged from 1 to 75 - not an easy task! And that's one of the things we especially like about Rachel's teas. She has teas that kids like, teas for novices, experts, wannabe experts. :) She carries all the nifty gadgets you need to brew a proper pot of tea and complete and easy to understand brewing instructions on the packages. I never knew that you could overbrew tea. That's why it sometimes tastes bitter. AHA!

We hear you! And we promise we are working on it! We've had a tremendous summer sales season for our soaps - one that far exceeded our expectations and, unfortunately, our stock. We are currently increasing our batch sizes and furiously restocking so you never have to be without your favorites again.

We've been mighty quiet

or so we've been told by a few of you. :) We've been working hard to prepare for the launch of 4 new products and trying to escape this unbelievable heat at the same time!

April is Autism Awareness Month

April is National Autism Awareness Month. One in 500 children are affected by autism and related disorders, impacting over 400,000 families in the U.S. alone. Autism is the fastest-growing developmental disability in the United States. A child is diagnosed with autism every 21 minutes.

For those of us living with autism, the reality of this heartbreaking disorder occupies a monumental proportion of our time, thoughts and energy. And we are exhausted. During April, we reach out to our families, friends, neighbors, business leaders and politicians to take up our cause. It's our opportunity to help them understand our children and the crisis of autism affecting our nation.

Our latest soap additions for your reading pleasure:

Virginia Dogwood soap - Lovely, sweet, and bright with a blend of delicate florals including jasmine and violet and a light touch of woods, this soap has surprising unisex appeal! Dogwood is a beautiful tree that flowers in spring with either white or pink blossoms and then displays red berries throughout fall and winter. We think we've captured the beautiful fragrance of our state tree in this luxury soap. We hope you'll agree!

Mountain Heather soap - This soap has the most heavenly fragrance and has become our new favorite for spring! Don't be fooled into thinking this is just a floral soap. 2006 Soaps

The first of our 2006 soaps are now available.

Atticus in Argyle soap - Masculine, sporty, and very sexy - this luxury soap with cocoa butter, olive, and hemp seed oils has a fantastic refined fragrance. Scented with French verbena, lemon, sandalwood, ambergris, and a green touch of iris and violet leaves for a very upscale and refined olfactory treat.

Aztec Gold soap - An incredible, balanced fragrance blend highlights this exotic soap which is enhanced by cocoa and shea butters. The scent is a mesmerizing blend of spices, fruits, and woods including sandalwood, patchouli, and musk. A sweet heart of warm and sunny citrus is topped with vanilla and Mexican chocolate and just a hint of nutmeg. A gorgeous turquoise color is swirled with gold mica throughout to make a mysterious, sweet and exotic bath bar.

Drama Queen soap - Ahh, the Drama Queen - the person who always needs to be the center of attention, who thinks the universe revolves around her, and manages to have the absolute worst luck in the world. And when you really get to know her, she usually turns out to be a fragile, delicate creature who wilts at the slightest touch of frost. Remind you of anyone? Reminds us of the Queen of the flowers, the rose. We've created a gorgeous, soothing bar that stars the fragrance of Bulgarian rose with lovely freesia, and slight nuances of jasmine and violets. The combination makes a sweet, beguiling soap with delicate fragance and some dramatic color thrown in just for fun.

Kiss My Karma soap - Hypnotic and sensual - maybe a little bit karmic, this gorgeous bath bar with shea butter and hempseed oil will kiss your skin with wonderful moisture and fragrance. The scent is made up of a blend of patchouli, sweet orange, lavendin, pine, and lemongrass with notes of amber, incense and musk for a completely cosmic bathing experience.

Medicine Lodge soap - Gorgeous, earthy bar reminiscent of the southwest. Beautiful notes of sage, Canadian fir needle, cedarleaf, and oakmoss are sweetened by fresh, bright sweetgrass for a soothing, purifying combination in a lovely shea butter soap.

Prince of Darkness soap - This wonderful soap has a dark, smoldering, and complex fragrance that is trumped only by the addition of real charcoal to the bar. Charcoal is thought to have absorbent abilities to rid the skin of impurities and bacteria to really deep clean. The incredible fragrance is made up of vetiver, patchouli, myrrh, herbs, and anise giving it wonderful unisex appeal.

Wicked Woman soap - Is she a wicked woman or maybe just a little mystical and mysterious? You may be asking yourself the same thing about this wonderful, sultry soap once you get a whiff of its unique fragrance. With all the allure of a mystical spell this complex scent is firmly grounded with woods including sandalwood and Moroccan Thyine wood, and accented with Egytpian Musk and exotic spices. Then she changes ever so slightly to include red tea, rose, Mexican torch flower, and French Mimosa before moving on to bright valencia orange and Sicilian lemon. A gorgeous, unique fragrance that is very sensual and maybe just a little wicked!

New exclusive Flower Peddler fragrances are joining our growing list! And.... here are the descriptions you've been asking for:
Masquerade - This is a very unusual blend of woods, herbs, a touch of rose, and a hint of chocolate that results in an entirely sexy combination. With a heart of sandalwood, musk, and rosewood, subtle notes of sweetgrass, oakmoss and a little twist of rose geranium, chocolate, and anise, this fragrance will have you guessing - is it for him or is it for her? We'll give you a hint; it can masquerade as either.

Mystique - Lush, green, floral, and ultimately feminine! This fragrance blooms with a complex combination of gardenia, lilac, and jasmine followed by middle notes of thyme and pine with a drydown of oakmoss, vetiver, sandalwood, and musk. Gorgeous and vibrant!

Vanilla Vanity - Sensual and luscious blend of rich vanilla bean, amber, musk, and a touch of rose geranium. Irresistible!

Calypso - Warm, citrusy, fresh, and crisp with a heart of tropical fruits including papaya, yuzu, fig, and mango, middle notes of patchouli, sandalwood, and amber, and just a touch of rum and spice. Hey man, I'm on vacation!

A heart banner will be hidden somewhere on the website of each of the participating businesses. As you find each one, record the number next to the heart and the name of the business.

Where are the hearts hidden?
The hearts will be located on pages easy to access from the home page.

How many do I have to find?
You must find 5 of the hidden hearts at the sites of your choice.

Once I've found 5 of the hearts, how do I enter?
